GNR Pass Hard Skool

September 24, 2021

Guns N' Roses have released their second new song of the decade!

Streaming everywhere at Midnight, "Hard Skool" was written by Axl Rose, Slash, Paul Tobias, Duff McKagan, Matt Sorum and Dizzy Reed.

This marks the band's second release of new material since Chinese Democracy in 2008.

Work on this track dates back to at least 1994, and was, at one point, known as "No Love Remains."

Matt Sorum mentions in his book, that GN'R recorded a song for a Jackie Chan movie that had no lyrics in 1996.

Duff McKagan, back in September 1996, in an interview with Howard Stern said the band were going to record a song for the upcoming Jackie Chan movie later that day.

A short clip of the 1999 Village Studios version of the song, was passed around as "Checkmate," in 2005.

Bumblefoot also said that he worked on the track in 2006.

In December 2008, Axl Rose mentioned the song during one of his chats, and revealed that the working title for the song was now "Jackie Chan."

The full version, produced by Sean Beaven and then known as "Hardschool" leaked in the Summer of 2019.

"Hard Skool" is available on all steaming platforms now.
