I’m gonna sound like a negative cunt, but I don’t see anything positive about them in that period.

The only good thing that has happened since 2016 were the leaks. I couldn’t care less about the re-releases. Duff and Slash being back hasn’t led to anything creative, exciting or at least interesting, so their presence is pretty irrelevant to me. Their live performances have ranged from mediocre to atrocious.

The only good thing that could happen regarding this band is more leaks. Other than that they are the lamest rock band around right now.

Theres also,

Susan leaking the bands 2019(i think) US tour dates on her twitter account, before the band did.

susan leaking info in an interview that the band were working on new music. Same year i think, or maybe 2018.

At this stage, the wives may as well manage the band. Fuck TB.

You can also add the long boring solos by slash, axl butchering VR songs, and lack of changing setlist.

Best thing about the reunion is I wish you were here/ layla live performances in vegas.. Mostly because it was good music with no crappy axl voice and seeing axl and slash together again was still new.

Too many cons to list

The only pro for me was that I waited decades to see Axl, Slash, and Duff perform together and I finally got to see it in person.

Was it as ideal as seeing them back in 1991?   Fuck no.  But it's better than never seeing them at all.

Not only that, I got to see them play some of my favorite deep cuts from UYI, like Estranged and Coma.   And I didn't see in person, but they brought back Locomotive and Dead Horse and shit like that.  Yeah, I know Axl sounded like a dying cat, but I still think it's better than what he did in 2002 where he just played Appetite and only two UYI songs.  I love the Illusions so I'll take what I can get.

The setlist is definitely a pro. Even if you saw the UYI tour you might not have see something like Dead Horse. And Coma and Loco weren't played much at all. With the CD songs added the shows have the best set lists with DTJ and The Godfather theme back. Plus Wichita and Black Hole Sun.

Con is probably the actual performances and lack of danger to the shows you felt in the 90s.

Cons

no Pitman/CD songs like If the World/TWAT/Catcher regularly in setlist

no One in a Million

no Bond theme solo

no new AC/DC covers

no Izzy guest spots or Dust N Years

no CD II songs

no free beer

no Bad Obsession

I have something Positive to say for once.

If they break up again,

I would put that in the Pros category.

You know they could just drop in september whatever remastered  illusions will be released, with a new album and just breakup and end the band.

No tour, nothing.

just release both products and officially announce the band is over.

They can tour every town/city in the whole world but until they release new music and then release a follow up within two years like an ordinary band that's when my interest will be peaked. Even if they played my local town hall I'm not sure I would go, its at the end of the street.

I find the positives of 4/1/2016 era onwards pretty straightforward.

It's the most professional tour of their career.  Shows start on time.  There are no rants from Captain Inanseo about whoever pissed in his cornflakes that day.  He doesn't storm off stage.  The rest of the band is not shithammered.  These are all good things.

There is just a better overall vibe to it all.  The UYI tour will always be my favorite of their tours.  But that tour is loaded with all those issues I just laid out that are not present here.  That tour is not a portrait of a happy band.  These guys seem happy now.

The negatives are also obvious.  Axl does not sound like the UYI days.  His behavior may have been deplorable on the UYI tour, but his vocals in 1992-93 are the best of his career, in my view.  I find the summer of 1991 a bit dodgy, to be honest.  So yeah, it would be great if we could get a 1992 Axl on vocals with a 2016 mindset, but life ain't always perfect.

2016 was pretty cool. Actually seemed like they enjoyed each other's company again, Axl sounded the best he had in quite a few years, real motivated coming from AC/DC stuff. There was good energy and positive vibes.

It left me disappointed but Axl doing Slither at all was a cool gesture. Still would like a studio version of that.

Wichita Lineman is a good cover.

I like bringing out some UYI deep cuts and rarities even if the performances weren't so hot.

The first couple of times hearing Slash's takes on the Chinese stuff was cool.

if they were going to release a uyi box set, it would have been announced by now to set up pre-orders

Actually that's a fair comment, unless pre orders start this time next year like the LNL box, 12 months after the anniversary 🙄if there if there is no announcement by start August, I think there will be no boxset..
